Embaby

Embaby refers to an embryo that has been created as part of an in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure. This term of endearment is a combination of the words 'embryo' and 'baby' that is used to reflect the emotional investment involved for many individuals who undergo the complex process of IVF.

The term may be used to refer to an embryo growing in a lab, a fresh embryo ready for transfer, a frozen embryo in storage, a donated embryo, an embryo after transfer during the two-week wait before a pregnancy test is taken or for any remaining embryos after a family is complete.
